Restaurant Review: Stanton Social

Restaurant: Stanton Social
Cuisine: Tapas/Small Plates
Location(s): LES
Lush or Lacking?: 95% Lush
Personal favorite dish: French Onion Soup Dumplings

The first time I went to Stanton Social was with one of my best friends, Maddie, which happens to be incredibly appropriate because two adjectives describe this girl – high-maintenance b*tch, and I couldn’t think of a more fitting description of the restaurant itself. And I mean this in the best way possible.

Stanton Social is a quaint restaurant, hidden between Ludlo and Orchard St, that is very well-kept (this is where the high-maintenance comes in) and in tune with the vibe of the downtown Manhattan area. In my opinion, Stanton Social takes pride in its subtle charm yet outspoken dishes. It’s almost as though this restaurant will hook you in with its allure and then bite you with the kick of its cuisine (that’s where the “b*tch” comes in). I absolutely love eating here for a breakfast or dinner date.

Both times I went to Stanton Social there were a few stand-out dishes. For breakfast, I’d recommend the following three: 1. Caramelized Banana Pancakes with candied pecans, vanilla brown butter, and maple syrup, 2. Spicy Lobster Benedict with spinach & chipotle hollandaise and 3. French Onion Soup Dumplings. For dinner, I’d recommend two dishes, 1. Grilled Summer Squash Ravioli with crispy squash blossoms, ricotta, beurre blanc, and basil and 2. French Onion Soup Dumplings. Moral of the story, get the French Onion Soup Dumplings. Quite frankly, if there is anything to live for, it is for the French Onion Soup Dumplings at Stanton Social 😉

FASHION RECOMMENDATION: Casual for breakfast and dressy casual for dinner.
